Organisation of the studies

Students from AIMS Cameroon have to successfully complete the “Structured Master in Mathematical Sciences” or “Co-Operative Master in Industrial Mathematics” programme at AIMS Cameroon to qualify for the double degree. All students shall be open minded students with good or very good study results and the ability to work self-directed. Good English skills are a requirement for successful enrolment in the double-degree programme. Successful graduation at AIMS Cameroon serves as proof of appropriate English skills. A proof of German language knowledge is not required, but it is recommended to have basic knowledge (level A2/B1) to better master the daily life in Germany.

The study period at AIMS Cameroon is followed by either a 9- or 12-months study period at HSMW to obtain the MSc degree in the programme “Applied Mathematics for Network and Data Sciences”. AIMS Cameron graduates pursuing the MSc degree at HSMW in a 12-months option, start in the winter or summer semester, and complete five courses of 6 ECTS in Mittweida. For AIMS Cameron graduates pursuing the MSc degree at HSMW in a 9-months period enrolment is possible only in an addition summer-school semester from July-Sept, during which they attend eLearning courses and start working on their MSc thesis, followed by a regular presence phase during the adjacent winter semester. Examinations of the e-Learning will be scheduled around the beginning of the adjacent winter semester.

The partners recognize study and examination results for each student individually on the basis of their own study and examination regulations according to the competence fields. Courses not taken at HSMW have to be substituted by courses matching the appropriate competence fields, in such a way that the overall mix of competences and the required credits (ECTS) are covered.

After completing all required courses, the Master thesis and the Master Colloquium at HSMW, students are awarded the MSc degree in the programme “Applied Mathematics for Network and Data Sciences” at HSMW together with a certificate of successful completion of the double-degree programme between AIMS Cameroon and HSMW.
